K. Shepherd & Son is a family-run business, based in the Surrey town of Godalming. Our timber is stored for at least one year. This allows it to dry naturally so it becomes suitably seasoned for use as firewood. We offer a variety of seasoned split hardwood logs, available in sizes ranging from eight to thirty inches.

All seasoned logs from K. Shepherd & Son derive from our work as tree surgeons. Burning unseasoned firewood causes a build-up of creosote, a toxic residue that reduces airflow in the chimney, which can cause a room to fill with smoke or lead to a chimney fire. When we fell a tree, the trunk is split and the wood dried out for at least a year; a vital process to bring the moisture content of the wood down to below 25%.
